Selling a Home in 2007 in Whatcom County

You made it. You procastinated through 2006 and did not sell your home. The fence had to be painted and yard cleaned up and secretly you wanted the real estate market to come back to the highs of 2005!
But, here you sit at the beginning of a new year and its finally time. Are you ready to sell your home? Do you know what to expect?
Yes, I know what your mother-in-law told you, but are you ready to put your biggest investment "on the block" based on her advice!??!?
Maybe.
Maybe not.
Sitting at your barbecue last summer you can still remember the stories of how the guy down the street sold his house on his own...just a simple sign and some fliers his kid printed off on the school computer. In a few short weeks, his home was sold, the moving van had arrived and they were gone. The only thing remaining were the stories of how they spent all that money they had saved by selling it on their own. One story was that they had gone to Mexico, taking the extended family including the mother-in-law...other stories included a new sports car to show off his selling prowess, and money in the kids college funds.

What is the truth?

Is it possible to sell your home yourself in 2007? Is anything selling in Whatcom County?

The answer is "Yes" and "Yes". You can sell your home in 2007 yourself. And the market in Whatcom County, although not burning up, is continuing to move along quite well. Over the next weeks and months we will explore the Bellingham/Whatcom County real estate market. We will talk about the pro's and con's of selling it on your own, using a "discount" broker, and all the way up to the full service, full price Realtor.
I say "we" because I will be looking for the comments of my readers. I happen to have a real estate business called Neufeld Group Real Estate Services. I am also a Realtor with Keller-Williams Real Estate. That being said, I don't believe everyone must use a Realtor. And as much as it tears at apart of my soul, "I don't believe everyone should use me, either". So lets look into this issue of selling a home in 2007 in Whatcom County. I look forward to the journey.
