How To Treat Acne

Many teenagers suffer from acne. Some of them will not suffer from acne when they get older, but it is not always the case. Some adults continue to suffer from acne and it can affect their self-esteem. It can be quite distressing to live with acne. For ladies who put make-up to cover up their acne, it may actually make the situation worse. Several reasons for adult acne include stress and hormonal problems. Sometimes, medications to resolve these problems may make the situation worse.

What exactly causes acne?
It is when the skin pore or the hair follicle is blocked. This blockage is the result of skin cells that are exfoliated, but some parts of it still remains on the skin. The skin cells obstruct the pores and it traps the sebum. Hence, bacteria will build up and the skin gets inflammed.

How can we solve the problem?
Some people put tea bags on their faces. Some put toothpaste. Some scratch and pick their faces, leaving awful scares. There are many unorthodox treatments that may cause greater problems.

A lot of products found in the market help to reduce acne in adolescents and adults.Retinoids that come from Vitamin A is the most common treatment. Many over-the-counter products are quite good. Retin-A is the most popular ingredient found in acne prescription medication.

How do the medications work?
They remove the stickiness in the skin cell that causes the exfoliated cells to remain trapped. To prevent sebum from clogging up your pores and bacteria from remaining on your skin, you should exfoliate your skin more often. You can get cleansing products that help you to unclog the blocked pores as it reaches the sebaceous matter. You need to find a suitable cleansing product for your type of skin. Using cleansers on a regular basis will see benefits eventually as your skin slowly becomes blemish-free.
